Guatemala
This weekend we went to Tikal located in Guatemala. We had to go through border patrol and was actually a lot more difficult then I thought it would be. It was about an hour and forty five minutes to Tikal from the border. On the way though we decided to stop and try zip lining. It was pretty exciting and they taught us how to do some tricks as well. After we went on to Tikal for a three hour tour. The parts of Tikal that have been excavated are about 4 square kilometers. Our tour guide mentioned to me that is only twenty percent of Tikal! It was so big so it is hard to understand how there could be so much more under all of that jungle. We climbed to the top of one of the ruins on a ladder. It was over 100 feet high and it was very intimidating being up that high on such an unstable structure but I am glad I got to do it. We saw so many different types of wildlife. The guide also mentioned to me that he had seen a jaguar carrying a 300 lb cow on its back and jumping easily over a five foot chain link fence. After that we drove to Flores and stayed on that small island for the night. I finally got fast food though! I ate some Burger King and another place that is similar to KFC. It was nice to get some grease to eat. Next weekend we plan on going to Caye Caulker! Overall amazing weekend
